About NPDP Certification

To qualify for NPDP Certified distinction, candidates must meet 3 criteria in education, experience, and knowledge.

Each candidate interested in becoming NPDP Certified must complete all steps of the certification application process, which is detailed below.

All candidates in the United States and countries outside of mainland China must first submit a completed NPDP Certification application to PDMA for approval before they are able to take the NPDP exam. Once a certification application has been approved, the candidate will receive a confirmation email from PDMA that includes an Eligibility ID needed to schedule the NPDP exam. Candidates will not be able to schedule an exam without an Eligibility ID.

NPDP Certification Exam Overview

The NPDP exam is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions in the following seven key areas: Strategy; Portfolio Management; New Products Process; Organization, Teams, and Culture; Tools and Metrics; Market Research; and Life Cycle Management. Candidates can prepare for the exam by studying on their own, or with Instructor-led NPDP Certification Exam Preparation Review and Workshop Sessions.


Manage and Maintain Your Certification

Certified new product development professionals! Renew your NPDP certification every three years by completing and submitting a certification renewal application. You may complete your certification renewal application and update your PDH hours by visiting your Certification Portal.

Prepare for the New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification Exam by attending our comprehensive workshop on Sunday, November 4, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM with lunch included. The session focuses on the updated content, and study materials, for the NPDP Certification Exam. This workshop will be led by PDMA's Registered Education Providers.
