Key Take Aways:
The goal of the speakers and panel discussion is to share some of the great things Best Buy is doing within the retail industry and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities product teams may be facing today.
Charise O’Connell is a Product Manager within Best Buy’s Digital Organization, focusing on the Product Detail Page (PDP) and creating world-class customer experiences. Charise has a background in loyalty marketing and came to Best Buy from a SaaS company in mid-2017. She is a self-proclaimed life-long learner and product- fanatic. When not at work, Charise loves to spend time with her family & friends and ‘surfing’ behind their boat on the great waters of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Prior to joining Best Buy, Brent Shiely has a background of computer science, ecommerce and digital marketing. Brent now focuses on inventory and fulfillment – which is the essential ingredient needed to drive online and in-store conversion. With inventory available nearby, customers receive a faster shipping date – which improves conversion. With store pickup inventory, customers are more likely to visit our beautiful stores. Brent is now leading “Demand Sensing” machine learning efforts to predict where inventory should be placed in the supply chain network for optimal customer outcomes. Brent loves work (perhaps a bit too much) and his family as his two top passions. When not at work, he sails and tries to enjoy every minute of the short summer in Minnesota.
Mat Ingle is a director of portfolio financial management at Best Buy, overseeing digital portfolio spend and partnering with product teams to acquire and manage funding.
Prior to joining the digital team, Mat spent nearly a decade at Best Buy investing in and structuring strategic partnerships with venture-backed companies. Prior to this Mat worked in the investment banking and management consulting industries.
Mat has served as a board member on several venture-backed companies, with successful software investments including AddStructure (sold to BazaarVoice), shopkick (acquired by SK planet), Dashwire (acquired by HTC) and IQ Engines (acquired by Yahoo!). He holds accounting & finance degrees from the University of Wisconsin.
Outside of work, Mat is a busy father & husband and an active member in his community through board involvement with The Lift Garage, a Minneapolis-based non-profit.
Jay Myers is a Product Manager on Best Buy's Voice Assistant team, focused on delivering AI-based voice experiences on Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant platforms. A wearer of many hats over his career, Jay has served in both product and engineering roles. Outside of Best Buy, Jay has been known for his past work implementing new Linked and Semantic Data technology strategies in retail, and championing data standards like schema.org and GS1 Structured Commerce Classification initiatives. He has spoken at numerous industry conferences, universities, and professional panels. Jay holds a BA in Speech Communications from the University of Minnesota.
