As you consider the topics on which you may have some special expertise or point of view to share, we suggest you review the following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) about PDMA and opportunities for web cast speakers and leaders.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Who is the PDMA?

The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) is the premier global advocate for product development, management, and innovation professionals. Founded in 1976, PDMA is the largest professional organization of new product development professionals, with more than 3,500 members in 16 countries. The PDMA's mission is to improve the effectiveness of individuals and organizations in product development and management. This is accomplished by providing resources for professional development, information, collaboration and promotion of new product development and management.

What is New Product/Service Development?

The development of new products and services involves an integrated set of unique activities. PDMA is the only organization that focuses on addressing this challenge by providing a Body of Knowledge, professional certification, and opportunities for professional development, education, experience, networking and recognition.
What topic areas are we interested in?

We are looking for a range of topics geared towards various experience levels, from seasoned professionals, through mid-career to newcomers that speak to professionals in the field of New Product Development, Management and Innovation – cross-function and cross-industry.

How will my web cast application be evaluated?

Upon receipt, all web cast applications will be forwarded to the members of the Web Cast Task Force for review and screening based on their potential for contributing to the educational content the PDMA is proud to have their name associated with.
The Web Cast Task Force’s goals are to seek the most qualified senior level speakers from all over the world and be as representative as possible of the range of industries, contexts and specialties within new product development, management and innovation. All submissions will be equally reviewed by the PDMA Web Cast Task Force based solely on quality and integrity of content.

What else do I need to know?

  • Web casts can be led by more than one individual.
  • We are interested in web casts led by PDMA members, especially those who are NPDP certified.
  • Teaching/facilitating a web cast is equivalent to 2 PDHs per hour.
  • If your application is approved, you will be assigned a mentor who will assist you in the process leading up to the live event. Your mentor will work with you on ensuring quality and focus of content.
  • To preserve the educational integrity of these web casts, presenters will refrain from using sessions to promote their company, products or services.

Web Cast Marketing Support:

All PDMA web casts will be marketed via a four (4) week marketing campaign that will involved an integrated set of activities designed to reach more than 20,000 people.  They include:

  • Web cast posting on the PDMA web site
  • Marketing support and exposure in "Connections", PDMA's monthly e-newsletter
  • Marketing support and exposure in one (1) stand alone webcast calendar e-blast that goes to both members and non-members
  • Notifications on various PDMA social networking sites and the PDMA members-only LinkedIn Group
  • Co-marketing efforts between the PDMA and the speaker's network/media partners to help extend our reach
  • All web casts will be recorded and archived for play back on demand

Consultant/Vendor Led Web Casts*:

Consultants and vendors interested in partnering with the PDMA in order to leverage the Association’s database, network and marketing power through a web cast may do so under the terms of sponsorship. Sponsorship of a PDMA web cast is $2,000 and includes the following benefits of support:

  • Sponsor to receive all marketing support and exposure as listed above.
  • Sponsor to develop the content and secure speakers for the web cast. All web casts must be educational and content-based and subject to approval by the PDMA Web Cast Task Force.
  • One (1) logo positioned in the lower right hand corner of each slide with the PDMA logo at the top. Sponsor to use the power point template provided by PDMA for this purpose.
  • One (1) logo, 50 word company description with URL and contact information to be positioned on the closing slide of the power point deck.
  • PDMA to share the leads generated by the web cast with the sponsor for up to three (3) months following the date of the live event.
  • All web casts will be recorded and archived for play back on demand and the PDMA will continue to data capture on these names.
  • Web cast dates and timing subject to approval by the PDMA.
  • PDMA to provide the technology platform for the webcast and will manage all logistics internally.

* Please note that corporate practitioners and academics may lead webcasts and are not subject to sponsorship terms and conditions.
