Innovation and new product development and management are, by definition, disciplines that require the ability to work across boundaries. Yet doing so is one of our most challenging tasks. Join us for an interactive workshop and an overview of strategies and practices that allow individuals to work across boundaries effectively.
Rapid Prototyping: Now and Tomorrow
February 28, 2012 - Hosted by TPM Greenville, SC. Registration and details here.
Join us live or, if you can't make it in person, virtually!
Times and technologies have changed. For a great many new products we no longer need to spend years to develop a prototype. Carving and fabricating parts can be done within hours by machines that cost as little as $1300. Rapid Prototyping service centers have reduced fixed labor costs and increased speed for proof of concept, concept testing and test-marketing. This first session of a two-part series on rapid prototyping will:
- Discuss current state of the art
- Look at some possible scenarios for continued growth

Two trends or realities have been identified as exceptionally important to innovators in prevailing economic conditions:
1. Removing risks and uncertainties when innovating
2. Innovating under tight budgetary or resource constraints
So, our theme is: Innovating in Tough Times: Practical Ways for Innovating when Budgets are Tight and Resources are Limited.
Carolinas based companies already scheduled to share their lessons learned, experiences and tools include:
• Elster Solutions (provider of innovative solutions to the utilities around the world)
• NetApp (leading provider of storage and data management solutions)
• Novant (integrated group of hospitals and physician practices)
• Red Hat (global leader in open source technology solutions)
We still welcome submissions from corporations, consultants, academics and government officials who would like to contribute presentations, stories and experiences about this key theme. Submissions will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. For details please read the flyer.
